Governor Brown Appoints Two to Riverside County Superior Court

SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the appointment of David M. Chapman and Matthew C. Perantoni to judgeships in the Riverside County Superior Court.

Chapman, 62, of Palm Desert, has served as senior associate attorney at the Law Office of Thomas T. Anderson since 1983. He served as a deputy district attorney at the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office from 1980 to 1983 and as a deputy district attorney at the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office from 1978 to 1980. Chapman was a law clerk and associate attorney at Ritter and Ritter Inc. from 1977 to 1978. Chapman earned a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of San Fernando Valley College of Law and a Bachelor of Science degree from Arizona State University. He fills the vacancy created by the conversion of a court commissioner position on February 9, 2012. Chapman is a Democrat.

Perantoni, 51, of Moreno Valley, has served as commissioner at the Riverside County Superior Court since 2005. He was deputy public defender at the Riverside County Public Defender’s Office from 1989 to 2005 and associate attorney at the Law Offices of Katz and Block from 1988 to 1989. Perantoni earned a Juris Doctorate degree from the Whittier College School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Delaware. He fills the vacancy created by the conversion of commissioner position on August 24, 2012. Perantoni is a Republican.

The compensation for each of these positions is $178,789.
