Governor Brown Appoints Two to Orange County Superior Court

SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the appointment of Terri K. Flynn-Peister and Elizabeth G. Macias to judgeships in the Orange County Superior Court.

Flynn-Peister, 38, of Newport Beach, has served as deputy chief assistant United States attorney at the United States Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California since 2002. She was an assistant United States attorney for the border crimes units at the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of California from 2001 to 2002 and an associate at Latham and Watkins LLP from 1999 to 2001. Flynn-Peister earned a Juris Doctorate degree from Tulane University School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, San Diego. She fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Kazuharu Makino. Flynn-Peister is a Democrat.

Macias, 41, of Orange, has served as deputy federal public defender at the Office of the Federal Public Defender for the Central District of California since 1999. She is a member of the Latina Lawyers Bar Association Board of Directors. Macias earned a Juris Doctorate degree from California Western School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University, Fullerton. She fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge David C. Velasquez. Macias is a Democrat.

The compensation for each of these positions is $178,789.
