Governor Brown Announces Appointments

SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments.

Shawn Bagley, 61, of Salinas, has been appointed to the 7th District Agricultural Association, Monterey County Fair Board. Bagley has been a founding partner and vice president at Complete Produce Inc. since 2002. He was assistant general manager at Sysco Food Service from 2000 to 2002, vice president at Produce America from 1995 to 2000, produce broker at Produce America from 1987 to 1995 and director of marketing at Well-Pict Berries from 1983 to 1987. Bagley is a Jaycee International Senator and an elected member of the Democratic National Committee. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Bagley is a Democrat.

Ricky Cabrera, 46, of Salinas, has been appointed to the 7th District Agricultural Association, Monterey County Fair Board. Cabrera has been president of Cabrera Contracting Inc. since 1988. He is president of the Salinas Alisal Rotary Club and the Mexican Heritage Expo. Cabrera is a volunteer for the California Rodeo Salinas and Monterey County Reads. He is a member of the National Steinbeck Center Board of Trustees, Salinas Valley Leadership Group Board of Trustees and the Monterey County Farm Bureau. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Cabrera is a Democrat.

Ruth Thompson, 68, of Carmel Valley, has been appointed to the 7th District Agricultural Association, Monterey County Fair Board. Thompson has been a lecturer at the California State University, Monterey Bay School of Business since 2010. She was executive director at the Monterey Peninsula Chamber of Commerce from 2009 to 2010, a self-employed consultant from 2003 to 2009, senior director of marketing at American University Radio, WAMU-FM from 2002 to 2003 and consultant at Ruth Thompson Associates Inc. from 1989 to 2001. She is a member of the Democratic Women’s Club of Monterey County Board of Directors, Monterey Peninsula Chamber of Commerce and Access Monterey Peninsula Board of Directors. Thompson earned a Master of Science degree in public relations from the Boston University School of Communication. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Thompson is a Democrat.

Paul Tran, 47 of Spreckels, has been appointed to the 7th District Agricultural Association, Monterey County Fair Board. Tran has been a project manager at Community Housing Improvement Systems and Planning Association Inc. since 2004. He served as both a contract planner and deputy zoning administrator for the City of Santa Cruz in 2004. Tran was a law clerk at Lombardo and Giles from 2001 to 2003, Bello, Tade and Nale from 1999 to 2001 and Call and Boyne from 1998 to 1999. He served as a certified law student and student intern with Legal Services for Seniors from 1997 to 1998. Tran was an associate planner for Monterey County from 1990 to 1998 and was an assistant planner at EMC Planning Group Inc. from 1989 to 1990. He is a member of the Salinas Senior Center Board of Directors, the Monterey County Sheriff’s Advisory Council and the Monterey County Sheriff’s Emergency Assistance Team. Tran earned a Juris Doctorate degree from the Monterey College of Law. This position does not require Senate Confirmation and there is no compensation. Tran is registered decline-to-state.

Eugene “Bo” Patterson, 60, of Hanford, has been appointed to the 24a District Agricultural Association, Kings County Fair Board. Patterson was a union representative for the Laborers International Union, Local 300 from 1969 to 1998. He has served as a member of the Home Garden Community Service District Board of Directors since 2008. Patterson is a member of the Kings Community Action Organization Board of Directors and Tulare Lake Basin Disadvantaged Community Water Study Advisory Committee. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Patterson is a Democrat.

Mark Trezza, 46, of Hanford, has been appointed to the 24a District Agricultural Association, Kings County Fair Board. Trezza has been a community college instructor at Fresno City College since 2004. He was district director and field representative for Assemblymember Nicole Parra from 2003 to 2004, field representative for Senator Jim Costa from 1997 to 1998 and a teacher and learning clinician at Learning Time from 1990 to 1994. Trezza earned a Master of Arts degree in government from California State University, Sacramento. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Trezza is a Democrat.

Caroline Johnson, 67, of Riverside, has been appointed to the 46th District Agricultural Association, Southern California Fair Board. Johnson has been manager at Washburn and Sons Inc. since 1982. She was deputy evidence clerk at the County of Riverside Superior Court from 1976 to 1982 and loan processor at Consumers Finance Company from 1974 to 1976. Johnson is past president and member of the Riverside Rancheros Equestrian Club, past president of the Peace Officers’ Wives Club Affiliated and a member of the Greater Riverside Chamber of Commerce. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Johnson is a Democrat.

Rollin Magnuson, 72, of Riverside, has been appointed to the 46th District Agricultural Association, Southern California Fair Board. Magnuson was president of Magnuson Tire and Wheel Services Inc. from 1954 to 1998. He is a member of the Rotary Club of Riverside, Riverside Elks, Riverside Rancheros and the DeAnza Trail Caballeros. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Magnuson is a Democrat.

Marisa Yeager, 39, of Riverside, has been appointed to the 46th District Agricultural Association, Southern California Fair Board. Yeager has been a government relations manager of federal and state affairs at the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority since 1997. She was a legislative aide and staff assistant for Congressman Xavier Becerra from 1995 to 1997. Yeager was a secretary and board member for the Hispanas Organized for Political Equality, the membership chair at the Riverside Latino Network and an airport commissioner with the City of Riverside. Yeager earned a Master of Arts degree in public policy at California State University, Long Beach. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Yeager is a Democrat.

Joanne Montgomery, 79, of Monrovia, has been appointed to the 48th District Agricultural Association, Schools’ Agriculture and Nutrition Program, where she has served since 1999. Mongomery was an elementary school teacher at Mayflower Elementary School and Monroe Elementary School from 1965 to 1997. She is president of the Citrus Community College District Board of Trustees, where she has been a member since 1998. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Montgomery is a Republican.

Natalie Ybarra, 27, of Baldwin Park, has been appointed to the 48th District Agricultural Association, Schools’ Agriculture and Nutrition Program. Ybarra has been planning commissioner at the City of Baldwin Park since 2011 and assistant director at the Upward Bound Program at Harvey Mudd College since 2010. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Ybarra is a Democrat.

Hanna Yoon, 33, of Los Angeles, has been appointed to the 48th District Agricultural Association, Schools’ Agriculture and Nutrition Program. Yoon has been managing director of development at Jamison Services Inc. since 2005. She was a law clerk at the Century Law Group in 2005 and law clerk at the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles in 2004. Yoon has been a member of both the Korean American Democratic Committee and Network for Korean American Leaders since 2009 and a member of the Wilshire Center Koreatown Neighborhood Council since 2010. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Yoon is a Democrat.
