Governor and First Lady Honor Staff Sgt. Scott E. Dickinson

SACRAMENTO – On behalf of all Californians, Governor Brown and First Lady Anne Gust Brown honor Staff Sgt. Scott E. Dickinson, who bravely gave his life in service to our state and nation. The Governor and First Lady extend their deepest condolences to his family and friends at this difficult time.

In memorial, Governor Brown ordered that flags be flown at half-staff over the State Capitol today. Staff Sgt. Dickinson’s family will receive a letter of condolence from the Governor.

Staff Sgt. Scott E. Dickinson, 29, of San Diego, CA, died August 10, while supporting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. Dickinson was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force. His parent command was 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force in Kaneohe Bay, HI. He was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
