Governor and First Lady Honor 1st Lt. Sean R. Jacobs

SACRAMENTO – On behalf of all Californians, Governor Brown and First Lady Anne Gust Brown honor 1st Lt. Sean R. Jacobs, who bravely gave his life in service to our state and nation. The Governor and First Lady extend their deepest condolences to his family and friends at this difficult time.

In memorial, Governor Brown ordered that flags be flown at half-staff over the State Capitol today. 1st Lt. Jacobs’ family will receive a letter of condolence from the Governor.

1st Lt. Sean R. Jacobs, 23, of Redding, CA, died July 26, in Khakrez, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when he encountered an enemy improvised explosive device. Jacobs was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 17th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, WA. He was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
