Governor and First Lady Honor Spc. Benjamin C. Pleitez

SACRAMENTO – On behalf of all Californians, Governor Brown and First Lady Anne Gust Brown honor Spc. Benjamin C. Pleitez, who bravely gave his life in service to our state and nation. The Governor and First Lady extend their deepest condolences to his family and friends at this difficult time.

In memorial, Governor Brown ordered that flags be flown at half-staff over the State Capitol today. Spc. Pleitez’s family will receive a letter of condolence from the Governor.

Spc. Benjamin C. Pleitez, 25, of Turlock, CA, died July 27, in Mazar E Sharif, Afghanistan. Pleitez was assigned to the 649th Military Police Company, 185th Military Police Battalion, 49th Military Police Brigade, Army National Guard, San Luis Obispo, CA, and attached to the 1072nd Transportation Company, 746th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 224th Sustainment Brigade, Army National Guard, Van Nuys, CA. He was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
