Governor and First Lady Honor Petty Officer 2nd Class Michael J. Brodsky

SACRAMENTO – On behalf of all Californians, Governor Brown and First Lady Anne Gust Brown honor Petty Officer 2nd Class Michael J. Brodsky, who bravely gave his life in service to our state and nation. The Governor and First Lady extend their deepest condolences to his family and friends at this difficult time.

In memorial, Governor Brown ordered that flags be flown at half-staff over the State Capitol today. Petty Officer 2nd Class Brodsky’s family will receive a letter of condolence from the Governor.

Petty Officer 2nd Class Michael J. Brodsky, 33, of Tamarac, FL, died July 21, in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan, from injuries related to a dismounted improvised explosive device blast. He was assigned to Navy Region Southwest Security Detachment, San Diego, CA. Brodsky was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
