Governor and First Lady Honor Sgt. Brian L. Walker

SACRAMENTO – On behalf of all Californians, Governor Brown and First Lady Anne Gust Brown honor Sgt. Brian L. Walker, who bravely gave his life in service to our state and nation. The Governor and First Lady extend their deepest condolences to his family and friends at this difficult time.

In memorial, Governor Brown ordered that flags be flown at half-staff over the State Capitol today. Sgt. Walker’s family will receive a letter of condolence from the Governor.

Sgt. Brian L. Walker, 25, of Lucerne Valley, CA, died May 13, in Bowri Tana, Afghanistan, when the enemy attacked his vehicle with an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the 425th Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, AK. Walker was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
