Governor and First Lady Honor Pfc. Christian R. Sannicolas

SACRAMENTO – On behalf of all Californians, Governor Brown and First Lady Anne Gust Brown honor Pfc. Christian R. Sannicolas, who bravely gave his life in service to our state and nation. The Governor and First Lady extend their deepest condolences to his family and friends at this difficult time.

In memorial, Governor Brown ordered that flags be flown at half-staff over the State Capitol today. Pfc. Sannicolas’ family will receive a letter of condolence from the Governor.

Pfc. Christian R. Sannicolas, 20, of Anaheim, CA, died April 28, in Kandahar province, Afghanistan, of injuries sustained when his vehicle encountered an improvised explosive device. Sannicolas was assigned to 1st Battalion, 504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, NC. Sannicolas was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
