Governor Brown Announces Appointments

SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments.

David Cole, 45, of Roseville, has been appointed retail recruitment manager at the California State Lottery. Cole has been the owner of James David Cellars since 2007 and was business area manager for Wells Fargo Bank from 2003 to 2008. He was a customer service manager for Southwest Airlines from 1994 to 2003, a western regional representative for Minolta Corporation from 1990 to 1994 and a salesman for Filco Electronics from 1984 to 1990. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $110,688. Cole is a Republican.

Robert L. “Roy” Gill, 60, of Dixon, has been appointed to the 36th District Agricultural Association, the Dixon May Fair Board, where he previously served as a member from 1992 to 2008. Gill has been the owner of Reveille Farms since 2009 and served as partner for RC Gill and Son from 1978 to 2008. He has been a member of the Solano Land Trust since 2007 and Solano County Farm Bureau since 1980. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Gill is a Republican.

Ryann Petit-Frere, 29, of Sacramento, has been appointed digital strategy manager at the California State Lottery. Petit-Frere has been a multi-media specialist for Entercom Communications since 2011 and was an account executive at Entravision Communications from 2010 to 2011. She was a communications specialist for the Wisconsin Technology Council and the Wisconsin Angel Network from 2006 to 2010. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $51,000. Petit-Frere is registered decline-to-state.

Ann Richardson, 58, of Sacramento, has been appointed senior advisor to the chief deputy at the California State Lottery. Richardson has been staff counsel at the California State Lottery since 2010. She was a member of the California Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board from 2003 to 2010. Richardson was a deputy legislative secretary for Governor Gray Davis from 1999 to 2002 and chief deputy legislative secretary in 2003. She was a principal at the Law Office of Ann M. Richardson from 1995 to 1999 and an associate attorney at Walkup Melodia Echeveria and Kelly from 1992 to 1995. Richardson was an associate attorney at the Law Office of John D. Winer from 1991 to 1992 and a paralegal, law clerk and attorney at Casey Gerry Casey Reed and Schenk from 1981 to 1991. Richardson earned a Juris Doctorate degree from California Western School of Law. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $119,424. Richardson is a Democrat.

Patricia Salazar, 29, of Pacoima, has been appointed deputy commissioner in the Office of Public Affairs at the California Department of Corporations. She has served as a legislative and regulatory lobbyist for the California and Nevada Credit Union Leagues since 2010 and was a senior account executive for Cerrell Associates Inc. from 2007 to 2010. Salazar was a council aide for the City of Los Angeles from 2006 to 2007 and assistant southern California field director for the California Democratic Party in 2006. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $90,000. Salazar is a Democrat.
