Governor Brown Announces Appointments

SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments.

Shanda Chaudhry, 36, of West Sacramento, has been appointed assistant deputy director of legislation at the California Technology Agency. She has served as senior legislative aide to Senator Curren Price since 2008. She was a senior legislative aide from 2004 to 2008 and an executive assistant from 2003 to 2004 to Senate President pro Tempore Don Perata. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $90,000. Chaudhry is a Democrat.

Robert David, 55, of Sacramento, has been appointed director of the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development. David has been the regional executive at the American Hospital Association since 2010. He was chief deputy director at the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development from 2005 to 2010. David was regional vice president of the Hospital Council of Northern and Central California from 1999 to 2005 and was assistant secretary at the California Health and Human Services Agency from 1995 to 1999. He was senior negotiator at the California Medical Assistance Commission from 1994 to 1995 and was the director of payer relations at Quantum Health Resources from 1993 to 1994. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $150,109. David is a Republican.

Andrew McAllister, 46, of San Diego, has been appointed to the California Energy Commission. He has held multiple positions at the California Center for Sustainable Energy since 2005, including director of policy and strategy, director of programs and binational program specialist. McAllister was an energy efficiency and renewable energy consultant for the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association International Ltd. from 2004 to 2005, 2002 and from 1992 to 2000. He was a project manager for Energy Solutions from 2000 to 2003 and a research assistant for the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory’s Energy Analysis Program from 1991 to 1992. McAllister is finance chair of the California Solar Energy Industries Association and a member of both the Environmental Advisory Committee of the San Diego Port Commission and the Energy Working Group of the San Diego Association of Governments. McAllister earned a Master of Science degree in Energy and Resources from the University of California, Berkeley. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $128,109. McAllister is a Democrat.

Jonathan Wunderlich, 33, of Sacramento, has been appointed assistant deputy for healthcare financing at the Department of Health Care Services. Wunderlich has been a principal program budget analyst at the California Department of Finance since 2009 and was a finance budget analyst at the Department of Finance from 2005 to 2009. He earned a Master of Public Administration degree from Brigham Young University. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $122,196. Wunderlich is a Republican.
