SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. will participate in a California National Guard ceremony tomorrow to promote Col. Sylvia R. Crockett to the rank of general.
Crockett is California’s first Latina to attain the rank of general officer in the California National Guard.

Col. Sylvia R. Crockett began her career with the California National Guard in 1982 with the 129th Rescue Wing in Mountain View, CA, before commissioning as an officer in the Army National Guard two years later.
Her military career has taken her across several career branches including the fields of intelligence, protocol, planning and personnel.
Col. Crockett presently serves as the assistant division commander for the 40th Infantry Division and as director of strategic communications for the California Military Department.
