SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments.
David Livingston, 47, of Danville, has been appointed to the California Boating and Waterways Commission. Livingston has been sheriff-coroner for the County of Contra Costa since 2011. He was chief of police for the City of Concord from 2005 to 2011, chief of police for the City of Pleasant Hill from 2002 to 2005 and served in multiple positions, including captain, for the City of Fremont Police Department from 1987 to 2002. Livingston is a member of the California State Sheriffs’ Association. He earned a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of San Francisco School of Law. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Livingston is registered decline-to-state.
Chanee Franklin Minor, 35, of Oakland, has been appointed to the Fair Employment and Housing Commission. Franklin Minor has been a staff attorney at the City of Berkeley Rent Stabilization Board since 2011. She was an associate at Cooley Godward Kronish LLP from 2006 to 2009 and a staff attorney at the Eviction Defense Center in 2006. She served as a commissioner on the Oakland Residential Rent Adjustment Board and serves on the board of directors of the Charles Houston Bar Association. Franklin Minor earned a Juris Doctorate degree from Cornell Law School. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Franklin Minor is a Democrat.
Douglas Metz, 78, of Coronado, has been appointed to the California Boating and Waterways Commission, where he has served since 2006. Metz has been president of Metz and Associates since 1998 and senior counsel of The King Law Group since 2007. He worked in multiple positions at Wine and Spirits Wholesalers of America from 1977 to 1998, including chief executive officer and general counsel. He earned a Juris Doctorate degree from Wayne State University Law School. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Metz is a Republican.
Danielle Nava, 40, of Placentia, has been appointed to the Fair Employment and Housing Commission. Nava has been the director of programs at the California Conference for Equality and Justice since 2010. She was associate regional director at the Anti-Defamation League of Long Beach and Orange County from 2007 to 2009, director of special projects at Children and Family Futures from 2005 to 2007, and director of the school inter-ethnic relations program at the Orange County Human Relations Council from 1995 to 2005. She is chair of the board of directors of the Violence Prevention Coalition of Orange County and president of the board of directors at the YWCA Central Orange County. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Nava is a Democrat.
Alexander Sherriffs, 60, of Fowler, has been reappointed to the California Air Resources Board, where he has served since 2011. Sherriffs has been a physician in private practice in Fowler since 1983 and with the Central California Faculty Medical Group since 1985. He has also been a professor at the Fresno campus of the University of California, San Francisco since 1983. He has served on the San Joaquin Valley Unified Air Pollution Control District since January 2012. Sherriffs earned a medical degree at the University of California, Davis. This position requires Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Sherriffs is a Democrat.
