EXECUTIVE ORDER B-15-12

WHEREAS Governor Schwarzenegger issued Executive Order S-23-09 in November 2009, which established the California State Advisory Council on Early Childhood Education and Care; and

WHEREAS the essential functions of this council can be performed by another existing state entity; and

WHEREAS my Administration is committed to identifying and eliminating administrative inefficiencies and reducing costs; and

WHEREAS I am designating the existing Head Start and Early Learning Advisory Committee as California’s state advisory council on early childhood education and care, and it will carry out the state advisory council role for the federal Improving Head Start for School Readiness Act of 2007 and the federal Race to the Top – Early Learning Challenge grant.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Edmund G. Brown Jr., Governor of the State of California, by virtue of the power and authority vested in me by the Constitution and statutes of the State of California, do hereby rescind Executive Order S-23-09.

I FURTHER DIRECT that as soon as hereafter possible, this Order be filed in the Office of the Secretary of State and that widespread publicity and notice be given to this Order.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of the State of California to be affixed this 15th day of February 2012.
