Governor and First Lady Honor Staff Sgt. Daniel A. Quintana

SACRAMENTO – On behalf of all Californians, Governor Brown and First Lady Anne Gust Brown honor Staff Sgt. Daniel A. Quintana, who bravely gave his life in service to our state and nation. The Governor and First Lady extend their deepest condolences to his family and friends at this difficult time.

In memorial, Governor Brown ordered that flags be flown at half-staff over the State Capitol today. Staff Sgt. Quintana’s family will receive a letter of condolence from the Governor.

Staff Sgt. Daniel A. Quintana, 30, of Huntington Park, CA, died September 10 in Paktika province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit using small arms fire. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 28th Infantry Regiment, 172nd Infantry Brigade, Schweinfurt, Germany. Quintana was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
