Governor Brown Issues Statement on Death of San Diego Police Department Officer

SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today issued the following statement regarding the death of San Diego Police Department Officer Jeremy Henwood.

“Anne and I send our deepest condolences to Officer Henwood’s family, friends and colleagues mourning his tragic and untimely death. We honor this brave officer’s service to his state and nation at home and on the battlefield.”

Officer Henwood, age 37, died in the line of duty early Sunday morning after being shot in the head while making an enforcement stop on Saturday night.

Officer Henwood worked for the San Diego Police Department for five years. He previously served in the United States Marine Corps where he was a captain, and had recently returned from a one-year deployment in Afghanistan.

He is survived by his father, Robbie, mother, Beverly, a brother, Robbie and a sister, Emily of San Antonio, Texas.

In honor of Officer Henwood Capitol flags will be flown at half-staff.
