Governor Brown Issues Statement on Death of Alhambra Police Officer

SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today issued the following statement regarding the death of Alhambra Police Department Officer Ryan Stringer:

“Anne and I extend our deep condolences to Officer Stringer’s family, friends and colleagues. In the prime of his life he made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of protecting his community.”

Officer Stringer, 26, of Whittier, CA was responding to an emergency call of an armed robbery in progress when his patrol vehicle collided with another responding officer’s patrol vehicle. Both officers were transported to Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, where Officer Stringer died of his injuries.

Officer Stringer joined the Alhambra Police Department in January 2009.

He is survived by his mother and father, Debbie and Sonny Stringer, of Whittier, CA. He is also survived by his four sisters, Kristen Stringer-Bartel, Kym Stringer, Dana Stringer and Donna McCulloch.

In honor of Officer Stringer, Capitol flags will be flown at half-staff.
