SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown, Jr. today announced the following appointment.
Kathrin Sears, 58, of Sausalito, has been appointed to represent the third district on the Marin County Board of Supervisors. She is a supervising deputy attorney general in the California Department of Justice where she has served since 2005. Previously, Sears was a partner at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher from 1997 to 2005. She was an associate at Heller, Ehrman, White & McAuliffe from 1995 to 1997 and at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher from 1989 to 1995.
Sears was a program associate at the Asia Society from 1984 to 1985. Sears served on the board of directors of the Marin Conservation Corps (now known as the Conservation Corps of the North Bay) from 2003 to 2007 and provided pro bono legal services to the Corps from 1995 to 2005. She chaired the City of Sausalito Public Safety Facilities Steering Committee in 2002 and the City of Sausalito Parking Policy Task Force in 1999. Sears was a commissioner on the City of Sausalito Planning Commission from 1993 to 1997.
This position does not require Senate confirmation and compensation is $97,739. Sears is a Democrat.
